European Parliament – Special Conference on West Kurdistan (Northeast Syria)
On 25 February 2026, a special conference was held at the European Parliament focusing on the situation in West Kurdistan (Northeast Syria) and the broader developments in Syria.
The discussion addressed the ongoing political and humanitarian developments in the region, as well as the importance of sustained international attention and dialogue.
During her intervention, Ms. Ilham Ahmed shared insights into the current negotiations and efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful and inclusive future for the region. General Rohilat Afrin highlighted the evolving role of the Syrian Democratic Forces and emphasized the central importance of women’s participation in political and social transformation processes.
The conference took place at a time of continued political change in the region, underlining the need for constructive international engagement and long-term stability.
