Statement of the Kurdistan Diaspora Women's Federation on the Occasion of March 8, International Women's Day

The Kurdistan Diaspora Women's Federation extends heartfelt congratulations to women around the world, and in particular to Kurdish women, on the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day. We pay tribute to the unwavering strength and resilience of women who continue to fight tirelessly for equality, justice, and freedom.

The struggle for women's rights is a global issue and serves as a benchmark for the broader fight for freedom, human rights, and democracy. Kurdish women, with their legacy of resistance and unyielding determination, have a long history of standing against oppression in pursuit of self-determination and justice.

For the Kurdistan Diaspora Women's Federation, March 8 is not only a day of celebration but also a reminder of the ongoing struggles that women face, both in Kurdistan and across the world. This day symbolizes the fight for freedom, the rejection of oppression and discrimination, and the steadfast defense of women's rights.

At the same time, it is a day to honor the courageous women who have defied societal restrictions and, through their perseverance, have become symbols of resilience and progress. Women have consistently been at the forefront of revolutions, led progressive movements, and inspired hope for future generations.

Despite these achievements, women continue to face significant challenges, including wage disparities, structural discrimination, economic inequality, gender-based violence, and exclusion from decision-making processes.

As Kurdish women in the diaspora, we see it as our duty to amplify the voices of those who cannot speak for themselves, to stand in solidarity with the silenced, and to advocate for a world where all women—regardless of background, religion, ethnicity, culture, or socioeconomic status—can live free from fear, discrimination, and oppression.

We believe in the power of collective unity. Through our activism and educational initiatives, we strive to build a more just and equitable future. Our fight is not just for ourselves, but for future generations, so that they may grow up in a world of freedom and dignity, where barriers to opportunity and equality no longer exist.

The fight for women's rights is not the responsibility of women alone; it is the duty of all sectors of society. We call upon the institutions of the Kurdistan Region to take meaningful steps in improving the status and rights of women.

On this special occasion, we extend our deepest respect to all women—especially the strong and courageous Kurdish women—who continue to shape a brighter and more just world.

Happy International Women's Day!
