Remembering Halabja: Commemorating the Anniversary of the Chemical Attack

Statement on the Anniversary of the Chemical Attack on Halabja

On March 16, 1988, the Ba'ath regime brutally attacked the city of Halabja with chemical weapons, resulting in the deaths of more than 5,000 people, including men, women, and children, and injuring thousands more. Unfortunately, the scars of this tragedy are still visible in the soul and body of the country.

On this occasion, as we commemorate this heartbreaking crime, we once again bow our heads in front of the graves of the martyrs of this tragedy and all the martyrs of Kurdistan. We condemn the enemies of humanity and Kurdistan.
